Hotels in Salvador, Bahia
Hotel Catharina Paraguaçu. This hotel is a favorite thanks to the historical manor that houses it, the tasteful decoration, and efficient service. It is decorated with tiles painted by local artists and handicrafts from Maragogipinho.
Club Med Itaparica. This is the oldest resort in Brazil and it keeps up with the high standards of the Mediterranean chain. It is the most rustic of the three Brazilian villages. There are lots of activities for children and adults during the day and evening. It operates on an all-inclusive system.
Pestana Bahia. This classical and well decorated hotel used to belong to the Meridien chain but was acquired by the Portuguese group Pestana, which remodeled it in 2001. It sits on a cliff with a stunning ocean view.
Pousada das Flores. Run by a French couple, this inn operates in an 18th century manor just a 5 minute walk from Pelourinho. Some rooms have a balcony with a view of Todos os Santos Bay. The spacious rooms are furnished with antique furniture.
Pousada do Boqueirao. Decorated with flair, this is one of the most charming inns in Salvador. It is efficiently run by an Italian lady who worked 12 years as tours guide. Closed in June.
Red Fish Hotel. This small hotel just opened in 2004. Only eight rooms, near Pelourinho.
Solar Santo Antônio. Two rooms only, in a 18th century manor.
Vila Galé Bahia. Opened in 2002, this inn has an excellent location: just a 10 minute walk from Pelourinho, it is also near Barra and Rio Vermelho, two of the busiest districts in Salvador. Magnificent ocean view.
Sol Vitória Marina. Flat service, located by the sea.
